Local | Strawberry Picking

My husband and I took a day trip out to Watsonville with friends to pick strawberries at Gizdich Ranch. I'm reminded again how blessed we are to live in the San Francisco Bay Area, where so many attractions, scenery, and activities are offered within a few hours drive. The field was simply vast, with rows of strawberries ready to be picked. The fruits were so ripe, that walking through the fields smelled pleasantly sweet.

After getting carried away and hauling in a little less than fifteen pounds of these red gems, it was undeniable to plan and think about what the make out of them. The possibilities were endless! Though many suggested making jam, Frank and I are actually not big jam eaters (except with scones, yum!). The thought of making a simple, strawberry chiffon shortcake was an attractive option! However, as some of you may know, I am not a skilled baker. But thankfully, Nathalie, a dear friend, generously lent me her baking ware.

After a couple hours, I was so happy (and relieved) that the shortcake came out better than expected! Frank was very pleased, and two strawberry custard tarts soon followed, along with homemade strawberry ice cream.

Local | San Francisco (I)

Some of the many things we enjoy in the San Francisco Bay Area are delicious food and beautifully preserved sceneries. Tartine Manufactory, often sought out locally and internationally, is a light-filled location that is a pleasant place to pass time. Visiting this spot at its opening hour is highly recommended, as we were able to almost have the place to ourselves (the tables are typically full!). The porchetta sandwich is simply mouth-watering, and take a loaf of porridge bread while you're at it.

We then travelled to the Presidio area to find ourselves being surrounded by eucalyptus trees. It was an enchanting experience as we explored the lush area after the city has experienced a season of heavy rain. Afterwards, we concluded the outing at Boba Guys with some fried chicken and sweet beverages. Looking back at the film scans have been a joy to see, as it reminds me of wonderful company!

Local | Marin Headlands

The Marin county has had a special place in my heart and was an ideal location for a couple of friends to explore more of the San Francisco Bay Area. Despite being a night owl, I was delighted to wake up early in the morning to find the morning light softly illuminating the shorelines and landscapes. We were all captivated by the views of the hilly peninsula, and, of course, the Golden Gate Bridge's presence.

Surrounding myself in the vast waters, endless horizon, and great heights, it is a wonderful reminder of Psalm 19 when the Bible speaks, "The heavens are telling of the glory of God; And their expanse is declaring the work of His hands.
